Til Death Do Us Party

“And for in that moment of pure darkness, I see your soul shining brighter than it ever has. I love the weirdness in you and the gentle way you make me go insane.”

The air has finally cooled down… the trees are starting to turn… and the real cobwebs in my house are now considered decoration… That all must mean it’s almost Halloween!

And what better way to celebrate it than this amazing shoot? It’s hands down one of the most fun, spontaneous, creatively fulfilling shoots I’ve ever done.

Chanel + Dan are actually one of my 2017 bride and grooms! I photographed their engagement (see that here), their wedding (see it here), their gender reveal for their baby, and even the newborn photos for their baby girl! Their wedding last summer was a super fun rock n roll theme and ended up being my first published feature anywhere over on Rock ‘N Roll Bride. And when these two ended up winning my free couple’s session giveaway earlier this summer, I got super excited for a chance to work with them again! (Not to mention, the title of this blog post is taken from a saying from their wedding because I’m super sappy like that.)

And after chatting back n forth for a while about how much Chanel wanted something really different for their session, we came together on this idea for a fun Halloween shoot at the beginning of October and pieced it together ourselves.

Special shout out to my sister Holly for doing the incredible makeup job for this shoot. Without your skills, this couldn’t have happened! (Aaaaand side note - she’s such an amazing artist who is currently doing her own Halloween Makeup Challenge over on her Instagram called #makeuptober2018. See some of the other amazing looks she’s created this month here!!)

I’ve always loved Halloween and getting an excuse to make life a little more interesting. If that means dressing up some of my favorite people as skeletons and getting them to roam around the city with me for a couple hours, I’m ALL. ABOUT. IT. Make life what you want it to be. And be who you wanna be. Happy Halloween my boo-tastic frands.
